January 1970

Opera y Flamenco tells the tormented love story of the dancers interpreted by their own souls, the soprano and the tenor. Sensual choreographies alternate with opera’s most famous arias (“Il Trovatore” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Carmen” by G. Bizet, “Tosca” by Puccini, “La Bohème” by G. Puccini...) in a mixture of great artistic beauty between flamenco and outstanding lyric songs.

The Poliorama Theatre is to be found on the ground floor of the Barcelona Royal Academy of Science and Arts at 115 La Rambla.

It was designed by the architect Josep Domènech i Estapà and was inaugurated in 1894. During the Spanish Civil War it was at the centre of many facts described by George Orwell in his book “A Homage to Catalonia”.
