May 2021

A message of spring with waltzes, polkas and dances in a delightful chamber music setting, presented by Nine Soloists of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra:

An invitation to the audience to get to know and enjoy the wonderful and unique atmosphere of the Theater im Park to the sounds of the Strauss dynasty, Franz Lehar and others.

Beginning with Carl Michael Ziehrer's sparkling march Hereinspaziert, the program will include the most beautiful and popular waltzes, such as Frühlingstimmen, Dynamiden, Gold und Silber, and others, in addition to fast-paced polkas. The crowning finale of the concert, in keeping with Viennese tradition, will be the Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss.

Since the inception of the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert, this traditional concert has been understood as a musical message of peace to all people at the turn of the year. In this spirit, and in the hope that the pandemic will soon come to an end, the musicians, all of whom are members of the Vienna Philharmonic, look forward to delighting the audience with this waltz matinee.
