Operetta by Franz Lehár

Libretto by Bela Jenbach and Heinz Reichert

Premiere: 17 July 2021
Venue: Congress & TheaterHaus Bad Ischl

"Did you forget about me up there?" Who doesn't know that touching line from the Volga Song? With its second production, Lehár's famous The Czarevich, the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl takes you away to tsarist Russia.

The Russian tsar's son Alexei doesn't care much about the world of beautiful women - much to his uncle's chagrin, as the tsarist empire soon demands a
heir to the throne. To open the eyes of the unruly Tsarevitch to the joys and pleasures of a lady's company, the cunning uncle brings in the young ballerina Sonja. But what begins as a convenient disguise intrigue develops into a great love affair, which is not tolerated by the Russian aristocracy...

A rousing story awaits you, embedded in the most soulful and powerful melodies of Franz Lehár.

This masterpiece is staged by the operetta-tested Isabella Gregor.

Kongress und TheaterHaus Bad Ischl

The THEATRE HALL offers an unusual and elegant setting with professional infrastructure for conventions, presentations, galas and cultural performances.
Here, what appears to be impossible is made possible. The technical equipment of the hall knows no boundaries, but opens up new perspectives for each event. Depending on the way in which the seats are arranged, it can accomodate up to 900 guests.
The available light and sound techniques meet the highest demands. The stage with its sinkable orchestra pit keeps all possibilities open and offers a flexible use of the room. Loading lines are kept short via the back-stage. The hall itself is representatively and stylishly decorated. Steps in the second half of the hall guarantee an open view to the stage.
