Alex Kristan has turned 50, or as the optimist in him says, "The first third of life is over." And because his thirst for action is still greater than his nighttime urge to go to the bathroom, he’s taking this "milestone" as an opportunity to gift himself with a new solo program. After all, when you suddenly find yourself in the 50+ target group as a so-called Best Ager, the only thing that helps is humor to counter the lead in your legs and the silver in your hair.
Apparently, 50 is supposed to be the new 30. Or does that only apply to certain areas? Even if 10 p.m. is now the new midnight, there’s no reason to replace Nivea with Voltaren in the skincare routine. It’s still worth buying long-life milk. Making diet plans, dyeing hair, whitening teeth—these are for the pop-up seniors who see cabbage-funding as a detox cure. His motto, however, is "being sensible is like being dead, just beforehand" and he lets the brat in him rise again.
Right at that tipping point in life, where one balances between looking well-groomed and being well taken care of, the question arises of whether things really were better in the past and, if so, why not now? Nearsightedness is now offset with foresight, and as long as the cake costs more than the candles on it, you’re not old anyway.
Alex Kristan's alter egos accompany him on this journey, offering advice and support on the truly essential questions in the life of a man supposedly in his prime. It’s a start-up into a new phase of life, where he plays “Gout or Truth” instead of "Truth or Dare." And the truth is, he’s 42 net, excluding VAT. Getting older is something truly beautiful, especially when you consider the alternative.
