BALLO dalle Rose - a Dinner Dance

Welcome Aperitif: from 7:30 pm guests are welcome to the ground floor entry hall with an aperitif cocktail, to be served also with the first entertainment of the evening.

 

Dinner Party: Guests will be invited to take their places in the beautifully decorated, main floor or Piano Nobile. Historical decorations and an astonishing art collection will surround a sumptuous 5 course gala dinner, served with a selection of wines; the dinner will be joined by a live classical music ensemble with performances by singers and dancers, along with your host and hostesses to direct the activities planned for the evening.

 

Historical Dancing: From 11:00 pm the dance floor will be open to all guests to participate in historical Renaissance dances with direction from Master Dance Instructors.

 

The party will end approximately at 12:30 AM.

 

 

Dress Code: Full historical costume is required for the dinner party. Contemporary formal wear (ie evening dress, tuxedo) is not permitted for entry.

 

COSTUMES

If you are also including a costume rental with your reservation; once tickets have been reserved with payment, we will issue the Costume Measurement Form by separate email. Please complete the information as requested and return it at your earliest convenience. It will be forwarded to one of our Atelier in Venice for their consideration. We will then notify you of their recommendations with photos of the available costume options.

 

 

TERMS and CONDITIONS

 

Customer Cancellations: After December 1st, 2024, Tickets purchased for Ballo dalle Rose cannot be refunded. Costumes cancelled inside 60 days to the event date are refunded net of 145 euro cancellation fee; inside of 30 days, no refunds on costumes.

 

Event Cancellations: If the party is cancelled by the organizer, then a refund will be provided.

 

Government Cancellation: If party is cancelled due to government travel restrictions, then the reservation will be transferred to the event in 2026; if you cannot or do not wish to attend in the following year, or if the party will not be organized for the following year, then a refund, net of any credit card service charges will be provided.

 

There are no refunds, nor will reservations be transferred if you are denied entry into Italy (ie invalid travel documents) or for any reason you are prohibited from boarding an airplane or other forms of public transportation required for your arrival in Venice.

Palazzo Donà dalle Rose

History
On October 14, 1609, Doge Leonardo Donà purchased a plot of land at Fondamente Nove, at the corner with the Rio dei Gesuiti, from Giacomo Nani, the son-in-law of his brother Nicolò, to build the family palace. This choice caused ongoing disputes with his brother Nicolò, who felt that Fondamente Nove was too peripheral and would have preferred a palace on the more prestigious Grand Canal.

 

The first stone was laid on March 24, 1610, the eve of the foundation of Venice, according to a design by Paolo Sarpi, according to Marco Foscarini, but Cicogna states that he found no trace of it in the Donà family archive. The construction site was overseen by Francesco de Piero, head of the procuratorship of San Marco de citra, whom Doge Donà had known since at least 1594. The building was completed on October 15, 1611. Upon the death of the doge on July 16, 1612, the financial management of the construction passed to his nephew Leonardo (1583-1632).

 

Architecture
The facade features a base and cornices made of Istrian stone, in the form of smooth ashlar. The main entrance is to the north, on Fondamenta Nuove, with a pointed arch doorway, while to the west, on Rio dei Gesuiti, there is the water door, also with a pointed arch, and the dock. The east side is bordered by the garden wall.

 

Inside, the ground floor consists of a large entrance hall with stairs on either side leading to the mezzanine; the main staircase leads to the noble floor, characterized by a large hall (portego), while the top floor was reserved for the service staff.
