Jonas Kaufmann and Diana Damrau

The high-flying duo formed by Jonas Kaufmann and Diana Damrau continues its exploration of the German repertoire, always accompanied on piano by Helmut Deutsch, a master of the lied.
In 2018, the three of them performed a beautifully crafted recital dedicated to Wolf, before interpreting a program of Schumann and Brahms in 2022 that thrilled the audience at the Philharmonie. Alternating between solo pieces and duo works, Kaufmann and Damrau once again demonstrated their rapport and the artistic chemistry that binds them. For this concert, the tenor with the rich voice and deep tones, along with the radiant soprano, explore another aspect of a genre filled with jewels, featuring works—many of which are contemporary—by Mahler and Strauss, each composer responding to a romanticism reaching its conclusion. Helmut Deutsch skillfully crafts his accompaniments, providing the singers with a fitting setting.
