February 14, 2025 - Norbert Schneider's R&B Caravan Comeback

Anyone searching for Norbert Schneider’s R&B Caravan on YouTube will quickly come across a performance from the Ascona Jazz Festival in 2008. Norbert Schneider leans casually on a bar stool while the band, consisting of Dani Gugolz on double bass, Peter Müller on drums, and David Ruosch on piano, simmers around him and his guitar playing. One thing leads to another effortlessly, and it’s impossible not to surrender to the feel-good mood.

This performance is an excellent example of the uniqueness of this band, which is reuniting now—15 years after their last collaboration—to treat themselves and their audience to a comeback. Dani Gugolz, a music collector and enthusiast, forms one of the leading rhythm sections in the genre with Peter Müller. In their 40-year career, they have earned cult status in the blues scene worldwide.

David Ruosch combines elegance with swing, humor with blues, and has developed his unique style from that. All three have significantly influenced Norbert Schneider's musical style and understanding of music, and they still do. Norbert had the chance to learn from the best as a young guitarist. Now it’s time for their paths to cross again, and for the Caravan to get moving once more. (Press release)

An evening with Norbert Schneider is always unique.
Having grown up in the flourishing Vienna blues scene of the 90s, Schneider has created his highly personal style over his more than 20-year career, earning himself a unique position in the Austrian music scene. "Ollas Paletti" is the new album with which the three-time Amadeus Music Award winner makes his comeback. With titles like "Gospel Batterie" and "Seifenblasen," he focuses on themes of faith and transience. At the same time, the typical Viennese charm shines through in songs like "I bin am Sand" and "Schlaftablettn."

As always, Schneider effortlessly bridges the gap between the serious and less serious aspects of life, demonstrating a considerable amount of sensitivity. Enjoy the joy of playing from this top-notch guitarist in exchange with his fantastic band. (Press release)
