Stavros Dritsas is a Greek pianist distinguished by the sensitivity of his playing and the originality of his artistic approach. The press has described him as a "prodigious musician" (La Tercera) and a "unique pianist, of great sensitivity and possessing a magnificent sound" (Critics Point).

 

He has performed in recitals and as a soloist with orchestras throughout the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, France, Greece, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Cyprus, Latvia, and Russia. Among the prestigious venues that have hosted him are the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Barbican Centre, the Athens Megaron, the Royal Albert Hall, the University of Bonn, the Olympia Theatre, the Palace of the Knights in Antwerp, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the Latvian National Academy of Music, the Rialto Theatre, and the Teatro Sperimentale in Ancona.

 

He has performed as a soloist with the Athens City Symphony Orchestra, the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Magna Carta Sinfonia, the Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra, the Albion Chamber Orchestra, and the Sinfonietta Athens. He also regularly conducts from the keyboard the City of London Soloists ensemble, which he founded and of which he is the artistic director. This ensemble brings together some of the most talented young musicians in London and is dedicated to expanding the audience for classical music through innovative programming and an artistic vision that resonates with the complexity of contemporary society.

 

This season's engagements include performances with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, and the Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra (ERT). A winner of several international competitions, he notably received the Young Soloist Award from the Gina Bachauer International Music Association. Passionate about chamber music, he performs alongside artists such as violinist Yiannis Georgiades and cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition. He also has a keen interest in contemporary music, both Greek and international.

 

The year 2025 will mark his recording debut with the complete piano works of British composer Ronald Corp. Offstage, his performances of Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, and Chopin have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, the Third Programme of Greek National Radio, and Latvian National Radio.

 

Born in 1996, Stavros Dritsas studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris (Diplôme Supérieur) with Agathe Leimoni, then at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London (BMus ​​and MMus in Performance) with Lucy Parham, as well as at the Euro Arts Academy with Ilja Scheps. He is currently a scholarship recipient and artist-in-residence at the Résonnance Foundation in Switzerland, where he is pursuing advanced studies in piano and the phenomenology of music with Elizabeth Sombart, an internationally renowned pianist and humanitarian. His studies have been generously supported by the Gina Bachauer International Music Association, the Guildhall School, and the Henry Wood Trust.
