GREASE THE MUSICAL - COMPAGNIA DELLA RANCIA
Duration: 2 hours and 20 minutes including interval

A tightly knit group of 18 young and talented performers brings new life to iconic characters through dance, singing, and acting: Sandy, with her angelic face, and Danny, the irresistible heartbreaker. With over 20 years of astounding success in Italy, the musical has transformed the theatre experience into a colorful and luminous spectacle repeated every night: a hymn to the 1950s.

The show by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, directed by Saverio Marconi with associate direction by Mauro Simone, is an overwhelming celebration that ignites Italian audiences and sparked the musical-mania phenomenon, becoming a true pop culture event: an intergenerational cult that, after surpassing 2,000,000 spectators since its debut, renews itself every season, remains ever-relevant, and is adored by new generations, who identify with a timeless story of love and friendship with an inclusive message.

The musical debuted on Broadway in 1971, followed by the blockbuster film in 1978, which made John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John famous in the lead roles, and after more than fifty years, its electrifying energy continues to shine on stages worldwide. The teenage love between Danny and Sandy unfolds on summer evenings and resonates through the unforgettable soundtrack – including hits like “We Go Together,” “Greased Lightnin’,” and “You’re the One That I Want,” in the Italian version by Franco Travaglio and Michele Renzullo – all set to rock’n’roll rhythms.
