Jean-Baptiste Lully – Le carnaval | Opera
An iconic performance at the court of the Sun King, Le carnaval (on stage 27 February and 1 March 2026) is a masterpiece by Jean-Baptiste Lully, the founder of French opera and the musical grandeur of Versailles. The score will be conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli, one of the most celebrated interpreters of Baroque music, leading the orchestra ModoAntiquo, which he founded and with which he performs across Europe. He has been a guest in the major concert halls of Europe, from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and has over forty recordings to his name for Naïve and Deutsche Grammophon. On the new stage presented by the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara in co-production with Modena, the performance will also feature the dancers of NoGravity, an acrobatic dance company that crosses the boundaries between different performing arts to create multidisciplinary performances and theatrical shows inspired by the extraordinary mechanics of Renaissance and Baroque theatre.
