Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT2) | Dance
Wednesday 28 January 2026 – 20:30

Founded in 1959, Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) is one of the leading contemporary dance companies internationally. Always dedicated to research, innovation, and the creation of new works, NDT collaborates with exceptional artists from both the dance world and other disciplines, presenting a wide variety of voices and perspectives in its productions. Over the years, the company has established itself as one of the most important centres for choreographic research and development, working with major contemporary choreographers and supporting the creativity of dancers and creators at all stages of their careers, bringing dance of the highest level to audiences in the Netherlands and around the world. NDT 2 is the ensemble that guides exceptionally talented young dancers onto the international stage, offering them the opportunity to grow through collaborations with world-renowned choreographers.

The performance presented in Modena offers three choreographies in a single evening. Wir sagen uns Dunkles (We Tell Ourselves Darkness) is a creation by Marco Goecke, premiered at The Hague’s Zuiderstrandtheater in 2017. The choreography unfolds through suggestions evoked by rock pieces by Placebo, combined with classical works by Franz Schubert and Alfred Schnittke. Folkå, created in 2021 by Marcos Morau – National Dance Award winner in Spain and associate artist of the Staatsballett Berlin – is a contemporary ceremony that looks to the past to remind us that, despite everything, we continue to celebrate life. A mystical ritual immersed in the fury of the present. A song to life, explains the choreographer, a night of offering and celebration. FIT, an English term evoking physical form, adaptation, and connection, is a choreography created in 2018 by Alexander Ekman, an artist who has collaborated with prestigious international companies such as Cullberg Ballet, Compañía Nacional de Danza, Ballet Bern, and Cedar Lake Contemporary Dance.
