David Helbock, the figurehead of Austrian jazz, delights audiences at festivals on all continents with his projects. His virtuosity and creativity have earned him numerous awards, including several prizes at the world's largest jazz piano solo competition in Montreux (CH) and the "Outstanding Artist Award" of the Republic of Austria.
In his latest project, Helbock has been able to win the versatile electric bassist and cellist Julia Hofer from Vienna as a duo partner. Hofer has mainly made a name for herself in the pop world, whether through tours with No Angels or appearances on German TV shows such as Stefan Raab. In addition to her impressive online presence on YouTube, where her videos for the Thomann company inspire millions of bass fans, she is now devoting herself more intensively to jazz together with David Helbock.
In fall 2025, the duo will release a new album on the internationally renowned ACT Music label. The album promises a fascinating mix of calm, dreamy original compositions and groovy jazz pieces that bear the unmistakable style of Helbock and Hofer and is also complemented by exciting guest musicians.
With imaginative effects, rhythmic percussion elements in the grand piano and the dynamic alternation between cello and electric bass, this evening promises an extraordinary sound experience and a musical journey full of emotion and innovation.
And tonight, on David Helbock's birthday, there is one of the rare opportunities to experience this duo live with the album's guests - Lorenz Raab - trumpet, Veronika Harsca - vocals and Mahan Mirarab - guitar.
