The Niccolini Theater is the oldest in Florence and the first "modern" theater in Europe. Its origins date back to the mid- seventeenth century, when a group of nobles rented some rooms in Palazzo Ughi in via del Cocomero and built the theater there. In the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century it hosted artists such as Vittorio Gassman, Carmelo Bene and Paolo Poli. The restoration and subsequent reopening in 2016 kicked off a fruitful artistic season, hosting a broad program of prose shows, concerts, meetings and events every year.
