Summer Concert at the Brunnenhof Open-Air Courtyard

VenueMunich Residence
CalendarThu 02 Jul 2026 - Thu 16 Jul 2026
Synopsis/Details

The Antiquarium Wing, built under Duke Albrecht V, forms the south wing of a court complex later completed under Duke Maximilian I.

The Fountain Courtyard takes its name from the fountain located at its center, topped by a bronze statue of Duke Otto I. Duke Otto was the first Bavarian duke from the Wittelsbach dynasty, which had ruled in Bavaria for centuries. While the Fountain Courtyard was originally used for tournaments or as a carriage drive for the courtly society, it is today a popular open-air venue. The Residenz Solisten perform here works by great masters such as Handel, Mozart, and Vivaldi.

Venue
Munich Residence

The Munich Residence served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918. What began in 1385 as a castle in the north-eastern corner of the city (the Neuveste, or new citadel), was transformed by the rulers over the centuries into a magnificent palace, its buildings and gardens extending further and further into the town.

The rooms and art collections spanning a period that begins with the Renaissance, and extends via the early Baroque and Rococo epochs to Neoclassicism, bear witness to the discriminating taste and the political ambition of the Wittelsbach dynasty.
