Experience a thrilling orchestral concert with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra in the impressive acoustics of St. Stephen's Cathedral.
The program combines energy, virtuosity, and great symphonic expressiveness: John Adams' fast-paced Short Ride in a Fast Machine opens the evening energetically. This is followed by the poetic Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto by He Zhanhao and Chen Gang, performed by violinist Maria Schleuning. The grand finale is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's powerful and passionate Symphony No. 4, a masterpiece of late Romantic orchestral literature.
Founded in 1972, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO) is one of the most important youth music organizations in the United States. Having grown from an ensemble of 35 members, GDYO now brings together more than 500 young musicians aged 6 to 18 in numerous highly skilled ensembles – from symphony orchestras to chamber and wind ensembles to jazz ensembles.
Look forward to an impressive concert evening full of youthful energy, musical precision, and symphonic passion in the heart of Vienna.
