Following the tremendous success of recent years, Lukas Perman presents the rock opera in a new “look” for Easter 2026 – starring musical superstar DREW SARICH in the title role.

Jesus Christ Superstar – the only rock opera by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice – is and remains a milestone of musical theatre and one of the most successful musicals worldwide.
Since its premiere in 1971, and especially thanks to the legendary 1973 film adaptation, Jesus Christ Superstar has become a recurring musical hit that has thrilled millions of people around the globe — and continues to do so today. Iconic songs like I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane, and Heaven on Their Minds are classics known to virtually everyone. Tim Rice’s lyrics draw inspiration from liturgy, and together with the immortal music, they allow audiences to immerse themselves in the life of Jesus of Nazareth in a deeply emotional way.
Lukas Perman first brought this rock classic to the stage in 2024. Due to overwhelming demand, a revival followed in 2025. Now, the production will be reimagined with a brand-new aesthetic in 2026!
Drew Sarich returns to one of Vienna’s largest stages in the role of Jesus after a few years’ break.
The American-born performer has made Austria his home for many years and is internationally acclaimed, known for leading roles in the German-speaking world (Hair, Tanz der Vampire, Rudolf, etc.) as well as for his work in London’s West End and on Broadway.
As an interpreter of Jesus, he has brought a unique and unmistakable quality to the role.

Musical direction is in the very capable hands of Christian Frank, a long-established expert in the genre in Vienna. The 11-piece band is made up of top-tier professionals and guarantees musical excellence.

Wiener Stadthalle is an indoor arena , located in the 15th district of Vienna, Austria . It was designed by Austrian architect Roland Rainer and built from 1953 to 1958 . The arena HAS to overall seating capacity of 16,000 people Approximately .
The arena Comprises 6 halls : A and B ( grammar school ), C (ice arena) , D ( main hall , mostly for concerts eg Metallica ), E ( for smaller events eg The Stehaufmandln ) & F ( for more intimate concerts eg Women's World Award). In 1974 , the additional Stadthallenbad , a public swimming pool , which built .
The arena hosts annual tennis tournament at , called Erste Bank Open and the show Holiday On Ice.
Many famous shows and artists played at the Wiener Stadthalle, spanning many different genres of music .
