Life is always made of moments. Faithful to this motto, Ute Lemper celebrated her 60th birthday with a special project. The milestones of a lifetime, 45 years, are told through the stories and songs from the stages she has graced throughout her creative journey.
Ute takes us on a musical and poetic journey through time, moving from Weimar, Berlin, Paris, London, New York and Buenos Aires, touching places and cultures all over the world. Time Traveler is a mosaic that reflects Ute’s life in different moments and eras, with memories, music and anecdotes. Alongside works by Weill, Piazzolla, Brel, Kander, Gershwin, Waits and Alberstein, the programme is enriched by her own compositions. Ute Lemper has written songs inspired by texts by Bukowski, Neruda and Coelho, to name just a few. In particular, her most recent compositions reflect her feeling of being a time traveler. At times, music and dreams are more beautiful than reality.
Ute Lemper has left her mark on stage, in film, in concerts and through the albums released over the course of her long career. She has been universally acclaimed for her unique interpretations and her compositions, as well as for her performances in musicals and other productions in London’s West End and on Broadway stages. Thanks to her artistic versatility, she has interpreted works by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht as well as those of international stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Jacques Prévert, Nino Rota and Astor Piazzolla.
